Thanks to Universal Transport, a freight train shunting locomotive owned by a private railway company was able to return to service at the end of September. The locomotive had been stranded at the German Emmelsum harbour since June, following the collapse of the Emscher bridge near Dinslaken due to heavy rainfall, isolating the North Rhine-Westphalian port from the rail network.<\/p>\n
As the new bridge is not expected to be completed until 2024, the locomotive was transported by road to the nearest railway siding. The Universal Transport team loaded the freight, which measured approximately 14.7 meters in length, 4.2 meters in height, 3 meters in width, and weighed 85 tonnes, onto a low-loader specially designed for transporting rail vehicles. During the night of September 19 to 20, it travelled eight kilometres by road to the port of Wesel.
