This is one of the main goals of the\u00a0Shift2Zero\u00a0project, which focuses on the use of electric vehicles in urban areas and the transformation of logistics models to support their deployment. The project, co-funded by the European Commission, has a budget of\u00a0\u20ac12 million\u00a0and will run until\u00a02028. Among the 30 partners from 10 countries, Italian partners will play a key role, particularly focusing on the urban area of\u00a0Bologna.\u00a0Gruber Logistics,\u00a0ITL \u2013 Institute for Transport and Logistics,\u00a0IVECO,\u00a0FIT Consulting,\u00a0Alk\u00e8 Electric Vehicles,\u00a0Brembo, and\u00a0Cold Car\u00a0will work together with the\u00a0Municipality of Bologna, also a project partner, to test a new model of urban logistics.<\/p>\n
The project was recently presented by\u00a0Andrea Condotta, Director of Innovation, Sustainability, and Public Affairs at Gruber Logistics and Vice President of\u00a0ALICE, at the annual\u00a0POLIS leadership event\u00a0held at the\u00a0Capitoline Hill\u00a0in Rome, which brought together representatives from European cities.<\/p>\n
Marcello Corazzola, Managing Director of Gruber Logistics, emphasized: “Cities around the world are facing an increasingly urgent challenge: reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving air quality to ensure the health and well-being of citizens. However, the need to decarbonize urban environments often conflicts with the necessity of maintaining the continuity of commerce and essential services. Freight transport is a fundamental activity for the city\u2019s economy, as it supplies shops, restaurants, and businesses with essential goods and services. To move beyond conservative approaches while protecting businesses, it is necessary to collaborate and reconcile economic and environmental sustainability. We are therefore pleased with this new collaboration involving both the public and private sectors.”<\/p>\n
To facilitate this dialogue,\u00a0Gruber Logistics\u00a0has organized a\u00a0workshop\u00a0dedicated to the project, which will take place on\u00a0June 2nd\u00a0at the\u00a0Munich Trade Fair.<\/p>\n
Marco Chiffi, Director of the Bologna branch of Gruber Logistics, explained that\u00a0\u201cGruber Logistics has long been involved in goods distribution in the Bologna area and that the project aims to test electric vehicle prototypes and a new logistics model in urban areas, with tests to be replicated in various European cities.\u201d<\/p>\n
In addition to the Italian partners, the\u00a0Shift2Zero\u00a0project includes major industrial and logistics players such as\u00a0DHL Express,\u00a0DPD,\u00a0Diakinisis, and\u00a0Michelin.
