Incoterms (International Commercial Terms) were created in 1936 by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) with a simple yet powerful goal: to standardize the language of international trade. Since then, they have been updated several times to keep pace with the evolution of global logistics. The latest version, Incoterms 2020, is currently in force and comprises 11 key terms that clearly define obligations, costs, and risks in the delivery of goods between seller and buyer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just three letters are enough to change everything. If a contract states EXW (Ex Works), the seller makes the goods available at their premises: all subsequent responsibilities fall on the buyer. With DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), on the other hand, the seller takes care of everything up to final delivery, duties and taxes included.
