Italian Presence Grows at the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum (DTLF)

New members include the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, GRUBER Logistics, Codognotto Italia, the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority, RAM, and Mercitalia Logistics.

The European Commission has updated the composition of its transport digitalisation board, expanding the presence of Italian organisations within the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum (DTLF). The renewed and new Italian participants in the DTLF include the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, GRUBER Logistics, Codognotto Italia, the Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority, RAM – Rete Autostrade Mediterranee, and Mercitalia Logistics.

The DTLF is the Commission’s main consultative body for defining digitalisation policies in the logistics sector, serving as a key forum where future directives for the entire industry are shaped. This is where major regulations such as the eFTI (Electronic Freight Transport Information) originated, establishing rules for the digital exchange of transport data between public authorities, with an upcoming extension planned to include private operators as well.

Through the Digital Transport and Logistics Forum, the groundwork is being laid for the implementation of the e-CMR (electronic consignment note) and other innovations designed to transform logistics efficiency across Europe. The Commission is driving these developments forward to accelerate the transition toward an increasingly digitalised and integrated logistics ecosystem, delivering benefits for all stakeholders involved.

The group of companies and institutions selected to join the Commission carries forward Italy’s role in driving the digitalisation of the European logistics sector, ensuring a strong and proactive voice in defining future policies and guidelines.

GRUBER Logistics and Codognotto Italia are involved in Subgroup 2 (Plug and Play) of the DTLF, dedicated to developing specific solutions to create a harmonised and federated data-sharing system. The goal is to enable all supply chain actors to connect and exchange information smoothly and securely, enhancing cooperation between the public and private sectors. RAM – Rete Autostrade Mediterranee works to improve the management and connection of Italian motorway, maritime, and rail networks, while Mercitalia Logistics works daily to promote increasingly sustainable and integrated European logistics, featuring first- and last-mile connections. The Eastern Ligurian Sea Port Authority brings the perspective of Italian ports, helping to improve integration with European transport networks through the digitalisation of services offered to logistics chain operators and port communities.

With this renewal, the DTLF confirms its central role in the digital transformation of European logistics, deploying expertise and resources to tackle future challenges. The strengthened presence of Italian representatives testifies to our country’s commitment to making logistics more efficient, connected, and sustainable, helping to build an increasingly competitive European transport system.
