PCS – Project Cargo Solutions

What Are Project Cargo Solutions?
When speaking of project cargo solutions, we refer to the management of the transport of exceptional loads in terms of weight and dimensions—such as large machinery, industrial plants, or construction materials—often tied to large-scale projects in the industrial, infrastructure, or construction sectors.
These are not standard shipments: they require meticulous planning, attention to detail, and the ability to tackle complex challenges such as securing special permits, using customized packaging, and coordinating different transport modes.
This is precisely where GRUBER Logistics’ expertise comes into play: thanks to a long-standing tradition in the industry, we ensure that every stage—from preparation to delivery—runs smoothly.
Every project is unique, which is why we develop customized logistics solutions tailored to the client’s actual needs. The goal? To deliver cargo to its destination safely, on time, and stress-free.
The term project cargo solutions (also known as project cargo or project logistics) highlights precisely this: tailor-made shipments where every detail is designed to ensure integrated, seamless logistics management.

GRUBER Logistics' Expertise
GRUBER Logistics has a long track record as a reliable partner in the field of project cargo solutions, with an ongoing focus on customer requirements.
A major milestone along this path was the acquisition of Züst & Bachmeier Project GmbH, a company specializing in heavy haulage and out-of-gauge transport.
GRUBER Logistics had already built strong expertise in managing complex transport operations, but by integrating over 100 years of know-how from Züst & Bachmeier, it has further strengthened its market position.
Today, GRUBER Logistics is able to tackle even more ambitious projects on a global scale, offering comprehensive, customized, and top-tier logistics solutions.
A global presence
GRUBER Logistics operates on an international level, thanks to a robust network of partners and collaborators worldwide.
This extensive reach allows us to organize and manage transport to any corner of the globe, consistently ensuring punctuality, safety, and compliance with local regulations.
Our approach is customer-oriented: the proposed solutions are always tailor-made, taking into account the specifics of each individual project.
In-depth knowledge of local dynamics and country regulations represents a major competitive advantage for us, enabling us to meet timelines, requirements, and expectations at every stage of the shipment.

The Nuremberg terminal
Our Nuremberg terminal is a strategic facility located in the city’s inland port, designed to accommodate and handle exceptional loads, both in terms of weight and dimensions.
With over 12,000 square meters of surface area and a load-bearing capacity of up to 30 tons per square meter, the terminal offers a wide range of specialized services for project cargo transport.
Connections are trimodal: access is available via water, road, or rail. The access road supports axle loads of up to 22.5 tons, while the roll-on/roll-off area can support units up to 1,200 tons.
We have an on-site strand jack lifting system with a 600-ton capacity, ensuring safe operations even for the heaviest loads.
This is supported by various equipment: lifting beams, spreader bars, load distribution systems, and lashing and handling accessories. All of this ensures fast, safe, and precise loading and unloading operations.
GRUBER Logistics looks to the future with the goal of further enhancing its facilities and offering customers increasingly tailored and innovative logistics solutions.

Tailor-made projects in project logistics
Thanks to our extensive field experience, we are able to manage the transport of complex equipment and special machinery through customized logistics concepts, built around the cargo’s specifications and the customer’s needs.
While over time we have developed solid expertise in plant engineering and industrial manufacturing, today we can successfully tackle any logistics challenge on the international stage.
Our work begins well before transport gets underway: everything starts with smart planning, where nothing is left to chance.
Only when theory and execution align perfectly can the actual shipment proceed, ensuring safe, smooth transport.
For us, meeting deadlines is the rule, not the exception. Punctuality means effective organization, control, and coordination. Every shipment is monitored and documented, ensuring it is transparent and traceable.
We also manage complex, oversized transport all the way to the final delivery point, including lifting and positioning heavy components onto foundations already installed on site. Our specialists oversee every critical phase, guaranteeing maximum safety and reliability.
