New investments in sustainable logistics by GRUBER Logistics

GRUBER Logistics believes in sustainable logistics and has recently collected the first 4 LNG (liquefied natural gas) tractor units from the IVECO dealership for South Tyrol.

The remaining 6 will be delivered in the coming weeks.

The logistics company is also an LNG pioneer in Lithuania, where it purchased two LNG vehicles from the local Iveco dealership, which are already fully operational.

The new eco-friendly vehicles, model Stralis NP with 460 horsepower, will allow the company to significantly reduce the environmental impact of its fleet, cutting CO2 emissions by up to 95% and drastically reducing noise pollution, especially during night deliveries and vehicle transit in urban centers.

The decision to expand its fleet with LNG tractor units is part of a long-term transformation plan that GRUBER Logistics has decided to undertake starting today.

The investment in liquefied natural gas vehicles comes at a historic time of profound change for the road transport industry: European directives have set a target for 2030 to reduce CO2 emissions from commercial vehicle traffic by 30%.

With this goal on the horizon, over the next 10 years public authorities will have to apply increasingly strict restrictions on diesel engines, consequently reducing their competitiveness and flexibility in daily use, including for transport companies in Italy.

The void that will be left by diesel engines can be filled by LNG engines, which guarantee a similar range with a lower environmental impact.

“Our partnership with GRUBER Logistics has been going on for 25 years now and has always focused on the search for cutting-edge solutions in full respect of the environment and with a view to cost optimization – says Alex Gasser from Iveco South Tyrol – GRUBER Logistics is the first local company to receive the specific Iveco Stralis NP GRAND VOLUME-LOW TRACTOR version, which will ensure greater cost reduction and, above all, a further reduction in CO2 emissions”.

“As a family-run transport company based in an area of great natural value such as South Tyrol, we could not remain indifferent to the issue of sustainability in transport. For these reasons, for more than 30 years we have embraced the challenge of combined road-rail transport and we continue to invest in our fleet, which exclusively includes Euro 6 trucks.” Stated Mr. Martin Gruber, CEO of the GRUBER Logistics group.

“We act this way not only because we are aware of our corporate responsibility towards future generations, but also because we believe that this type of transport can represent significant added value for our customers,” continues Stefan Knapp, Fleet Manager.
