Gruber Logistics strengthens its market position in Project Logistics

At the beginning of 2025, Gruber Logistics completed the integration of Züst & Bachmeier Project GmbH into its corporate group. Since the beginning of this year, the project cargo specialist has been operating under the name Gruber Logistics Project GmbH. This marked the final step of the integration. With the acquisition of Universal Transport in autumn 2022, Züst & Bachmeier also became part of the Gruber logistics group. Since 1911, the project cargo specialist has been carrying out worldwide special transports for its clients, combining various transport modes for efficient handling.

The now completed rebranding process marks the conclusion of the integration project that began in 2022. Martin Gruber, CEO of Gruber Logistics, emphasizes the added value of the acquisitions of Universal Transport, and now Züst & Bachmeier, for his company: “The global experience and know-how of Züst & Bachmeier Project broaden our perspectives and open up new growth opportunities in a specialized logistics segment.”

Gruber Logistics clients in the Project Cargo Solutions sector—the new external trading name for Züst & Bachmeier—will continue to benefit from established structures: locations, contacts, and processes remain unchanged. Andreas Wöhler manages the Nuremberg branch, while the Düsseldorf branch is led by Marcel Zare.

A core component of Gruber Logistics remains the multimodal transport approach. “We work with all modes of transport and offer a broad range of solutions. A prime example is the terminal we operate in the inland port of Nuremberg, which allows us to handle project cargo via inland waterways,” says Andreas Wöhler, Branch Manager in Nuremberg. Since November 2024, 13 transformers, weighing 197 tons each, have been transported by water from Franconia to Krefeld, with the final transport scheduled for March 2025. The final leg to the destination in Meerbusch will again be by truck. Gruber Logistics utilizes its own equipment for final delivery and unloading.

Thanks to the full integration of Züst & Bachmeier, customers gain direct access to Gruber Logistics’ comprehensive service portfolio. In addition to heavy and oversized transports using proprietary equipment, this includes full and part loads, groupage services, air and sea freight, project cargo, industrial relocations, and in-house engineering expertise.

“Through our project cargo services, our clients benefit from optimized transport solutions across global logistics chains. Utilizing Gruber Logistics’ resources for the transport of bulky and heavy goods expands our operational capabilities,” emphasizes Marcel Zare, Branch Manager in Düsseldorf.
