GRUBER Logistics delivers an iconic Airbus to Serengeti Park in Hodenhagen
Paderborn/Hodenhagen – 30 October 2025. During the nights of 26–27 October and 28–29 October 2025, GRUBER Logistics transported an Airbus A310 to its future exhibition home. From Hannover Airport to the Serengeti Park safari and amusement park in Hodenhagen, the heavy haulage experts of the renowned logistics operator moved the historic aircraft—once part of the German Federal Ministry of Defence’s Special Air Mission Wing—with utmost care and precision over three nights of work.
As the approximately 50-kilometre route passed through a nature reserve, all parties involved worked with great diligence to protect the trees along the way, preventing any damage to the branches. Starting in summer 2026, this historic aircraft will be converted into a restaurant for visitors to the famous park, located in the Heide district.
In transporting the fuselage and other components of the decommissioned aircraft, GRUBER Logistics moved a total of 110 tonnes. The wings of the A310 have already been at Serengeti Park since autumn 2023. The final route chosen for the transfer – 64.4 metres long, 6.1 metres wide and 5.9 metres high – was the result of years of planning. The actual transfer was completed at walking pace over three consecutive nights, following complex preparatory operations and securing all necessary permits.

In cooperation with the StB Verkehrstechnik team, responsible for dismantling road signs, lights and traffic signals, and with the arborists from Arboristica, who ensured the protection of trees along the entire route – including the nature reserve area – the logistics company and its highly specialised drivers successfully completed the 51.4-kilometre journey without incident.
“To accomplish an undertaking that to many may have seemed impossible, our engineering team, led by project manager Martin Ludvik, deployed all their expertise and determination to find the best solution. Thanks to this commitment, we successfully delivered the Airbus fuselage to Serengeti Park. The success of this project was only made possible through close collaboration with our drivers, meticulous route preparation, and constant dialogue with our client, Serengeti Park,” emphasizes Michael Gruber, Managing Director of GRUBER Logistics Germany.
After years of planning, Fabrizio Pepe, Managing Director of Serengeti Park, comments: “We are thrilled that the Airbus A310 has finally reached its final location in the park. We will transform it into a welcoming restaurant for our guests, adding a new attraction to our facilities. GRUBER Logistics has achieved a true logistical masterpiece.”
