GRUBER Logistics decided to sponsor the Bunker Museum of Dobbiaco (South Tyrol) to promote local history. Located near the main road between San Candido and Dobbiaco, this is the only one of the over 350 bunkers erected in South Tyrol to have been transformed into a museum. Over the course of more than 80 years of history, this bunker has survived the troubled twentieth century with its two World Wars, remaining operational until the 1990s, when it was used as a military garrison during the Cold War.
Today, thanks to the efforts of the Association Pro-Historia, led by Curt Covi, curator of the museum, it is possible to admire this work restored to its former glory and illustrated in a museum itinerary. Given the relevance for local communities and the South Tyrolean territory, GRUBER Logistics has decided to sponsor the transport of the tank which until 1993 constituted an integral part of the original bunker armament and which has now finally returned to its original location. Due to its sheer mass the tank was transported by road from Piacenza to Dobbiaco, the unloading place, with an exceptional transport.

“We are grateful to GRUBER Logistics for believing in us and in our young project” – declares Curt Covi“The presence of this tank within the exhibition space of the bunker will help us to understand how much boundaries were strongly dividing in this area. In this way, GRUBER Logistics has played a role in promoting the European unification project, whose most tangible sign are the open borders – a fundamental element not only for an international operating transport company, but even more so for us citizens ”.

As a company with strong roots in the territory, we could not remain indifferent to the project that Mr. Covi is carrying out counting only on donations and on the help of volunteers. We are happy to have contributed to such an important cause to ensure that the history of our territory is not forgotten, but rather rediscovered and made available to people of all ages “- so Michael Gruber, Head of the Division Heavy and Special Transports of GRUBER Logistics, which managed the transport of the tank.
